Having a dog of your own can be very irritating to others and yourself if the dog was never thought to be well behaved and disciplined. Dogs will never behave correctly if there was never any guidance or teachings involved. There are so many different ways that experts would show you on how to get your dog to obey and listen to you. I found it very difficult to understand because some of their teachings would work at some point and many of their teachings would not work at all. I would sometimes think to myself maybe I was the problem to the whole situation and not the experts that were trying to show me how to get my dog to respond to me correctly. I have then realized that if I have failed to get my dog to learn anything then the expertise of my teachers has also failed. I have never given up on my quest to getting my dog to be very well trained. Never giving up was a very good decision on my part because i found something that actually worked for me and I would like to take this moment to show you what I found.
The first thing that i have found out was simply being able to build a solid and firm relationship with my animal. Letting your pet know who is really the boss and teaching your pet to respect you can help you reach this solid and firm relationship. Another way to get your pets full attention and respect is simply learning how to communicate clearly. Here are some examples that helped me gain my pets full attention and total respect.
Example one: Always treat your pet the way you would like them to treat you. Animals also have feelings like you and me and they are able to sense if you are tampering with their feelings or not.
Example two: There should only be one master or one boss per household that your pet should learn to trust. The whole reason why is because they can get very easily confused if there are to many different people trying to tell him or her what to do.
Example three: You should always carry a few doggy snacks in your pocket when you are spending time with your animal. A dog needs to be rewarded every time he or she does something really well. Having a few doggy snacks in your pocket can be very handy when situations like that occur.
Example four: You must never hit or strike your animal for as long as they live. Your pet will not respond to a very abusive master at all. If at some point you do get very frustrated and extremely angry. I would really suggest at that moment you would excuse yourself from all activities and take a break.
These examples that I have written above has really helped me in so many ways through my trials and errors when i would try to train my dog. Having total control of yourself and the situation you are involved in can really make you gain a whole lot of progress in just one session alone. Dogs i would say are probably one of the most intelligent animals in the world. The real trick you will need to learn is how to get in contact with the intellect and emotional part of your animal. Here are a few tips that i wanted you to know before you start training and teaching.
Tip one: Go to a pet store and buy a slip chain collar with a heavy duty detachable dog leash. Always make sure to put the slip chain collar on his neck the right way. The way you can tell if you put it on the right way is when your dogs slip chain collar starts to loosen as you start relaxing the heavy duty dog leash.
Tip two: Make sure you are able to handle the strength of your dog before you even attempt to take him or her for a walk. If the animal is slightly stronger then you are then the best way to walk him or her is to stand behind the dog with one leg always in front of the other leg. leaning back while having a strong firm grip on the dogs leash can help you to brace yourself in case he or she decides to run or pull without you being aware of it.
This article should help you be a more caring and responsible person then ever before. All of my examples and the few tips that I have shared with you are some of the things a dog looks for in their new owners. Remember to always be loving and respectful and to always treat your dog the way you would want him or her to treat you.
